2013 Wine Festival Chardonnay Kitchen Party

The aptly-named (it’s held amongst the covetable kitchens of the Miele showroom) Chardonnay Kitchen Party hosted by chef Dana Reinhardt is our favourite International Wine Festival event – enough of a crowd for a great party buzz, but no sweaty, frenzied crush, imaginative food pairings from a diverse handful of chefs, brilliant wines from a single grape (Chardonnay this year) and people who are actually thoughtful and curious about what they are drinking and eating.

It’s a blast being part of this event, and I always learn something: Who knew that Chablis is a Chardonnay? Who knew about the talented Daniel Craig at E.B.O. in the Delta Burnaby Hotel? Chef Daniel prepared a luscious Pork Shoulder and Foie Gras Terrine with Black Truffle Puree.

We prepared prawns in a smoky, buttery mojo (bath) of black garlic: Camarones al Mojo de Ajo Negro, garnished with finger lime and served over al dente spagettini.

This event always sells out, so book early next year.
