Poppy Seeds | organic
Poppy seeds, whether black (blue), or white, are the seeds of the opium poppy (papaver somniferum). In the West and the Middle East, dark-coloured seeds are used primarily, usually in baking. Their sweet, delicate, nutty flavour, which combines well with lemon and orange, also makes them a good addition to salads and salad dressings. Pasta, simply dressed with butter, poppy seeds, lemon juice and a bit of grated cheese is sublime. White poppy seeds are used in South Asian cookery to thicken and enrich sauces.
